• College: Belhaven College – BA - Psychology (2001); Mississippi College – BSN (2006)

Burn experience: Started working in the outpatient burn, hand and reconstruction clinic setting in 2010

Why burns: “I quickly fell in love with burn, hand and reconstruction because of the relationships I’ve built with each patient and their family. The nature of some of the injuries require extensive follow up care, and I am fortunate to experience the recovery process, provide education, support and encouragement during difficult circumstances. The reward is when I finally see a patient smile and the gratitude they have for the work I do. This job is not easy. There are days when you laugh with your patients, days when you cry and hug them, and other times you take a seat and just listen to how they’re feeling. I have had the opportunity to witness some amazing recoveries, and to see a patient overcome an injury fills my heart with an overwhelming sense of joy, respect for the team’s dedication to this work and the patient’s care and overall outcome.” 

Personal life: Lives in Pearl, MS, with Bryan Lewis; has 3 boys: Alexander, Cade and Samuel
