Shureka Burns

Burn experience: "Since 2015, I have had the pleasure to work alongside wonderful people and care for amazing patients."

Why burns: “I started out working in housekeeping. The Burn ICU was my unit to clean. I was approached and asked to be secretary of the unit. I worked as a secretary for about four years before I started helping the nurses change the bandages on the patients. I can honestly say I didn’t choose burns – burns chose me. I am grateful to work alongside the burn team!” 

Personal life: Wife and mother of four – three girls and a boy. “I enjoy spending time with my family, just being home acting silly. I also enjoy nature, being outside and having talks with my granny.”
