John David Smith

Burn experience: A certified EMT with more than 24 years of experience in sales, marketing and business management, John David first started spreading the word about the importance of specialized burn care in Mississippi in 2012. 

Why burns: “Burn care has become a passion project for me. When I began working with the burn center in 2012, I had a lot to learn about the minutiae of the specialty. However, I was immediately struck by the dedication of the medical professionals and the impact they have on every patient they encounter. At the same time, I was touched by the stories and perseverance of the burn patients and their families. I knew this was where God needed me, and I am forever thankful He provided this opportunity for me.” 

Personal life: John David is a lifelong resident of Mississippi and an Eagle Scout. He attended the University of Mississippi, where he studied business administration. He is married to his wife, Stacy, and has two kids, John Wilder and Swayze. The Smiths live in Brandon, MS.
