Education:

• College: Certification in Hand Therapy (2018); University of Mississippi – Masters degree in Occupational Therapy (2015)

Burn experience: “I have spent the majority of my eight-year career as a therapist treating burn and upper extremity injuries in the acute and outpatient settings. I am fascinated by the complexity of the hand and the challenges it presents during the healing process of various injuries.”

Why burns: “I believe the therapist/patient relationship can be our greatest challenge and our greatest joy. The journey of recovery for burn patients is long, slow, and emotionally/mentally draining. Our patients’ challenges are diverse, and that is one of the aspects I love about being a therapist in a burn unit. While there are similarities from one patient to the next, each one’s story and the challenges they face are unique. It is extremely rewarding to see these patients regain independence and confidence from such severe/traumatic injuries.” 

Personal life: Married to Luke Burnett; they have two children, Lucy and Cooper
