Burn experience: “I have spent the majority of my 10-year career as a therapist treating burn and upper extremity injuries in the acute and outpatient settings.”
Why burns: “I believe the therapist/patient relationship can be our greatest challenge and our greatest joy. The journey of recovery for burn patients is long, slow, and emotionally/mentally draining. Our patients’ challenges are diverse and that is one of the aspects I love about being a therapist at a burn center. While there are similarities from one patient to the next, each one’s story and challenges they face are unique. It is extremely rewarding to see patients regain independence and confidence from such severe/traumatic injuries. Burn patients are truly inspiring.”
Personal life: Married to Luke Burnett; they have three children, Lucy, Cooper and Avery
