Burn experience: "My burn experience started while in graduate school. I was assigned to a facility during one of my out of state clinicals that had a burn center. I had a 3 month rotation of acute care, burns and hand specialty. One of my first jobs was at Merit Rankin where the state designated burn center was at that time. Since I had experience during my clinicals, I was asked to help on that unit. That is where my journey began specializing in the rehabilitation and treatment of burn and traumatic hand patients."
Why burns: “ I feel that I fell into “burns” because of previous experience and by fate. I grew to love the team and the challenge of the specialty. It then became a stepping stone to advancing my career into becoming a certified hand therapist as I feel the two specialties go hand in hand. It is now a passion of mine to help patients in their journey of recovery from what can be a very traumatic and devastating event in their lives.”
Personal life: " Ironically, I am married to a fireman who is a training chief at Brandon Fire Department. We have two children: Reagan (10), Sawyer (8). We live on a small farm in Brandon, MS with cattle, horses, chickens, dogs, cats and parrots. When not shuttling the kids to practice for baseball/softball, tumbling, and tennis, the kids and I participate in 4-H and competitive barrel racing. We enjoy traveling and love exploring all the sites at the various destinations."
